We’ve had some fairly high profile Linux distros fold up their tents and move along. Whether due to a lack of financial support or the project growing larger than a one man dev team can manage, distros do go away. It’s never for a good reason but the fact remains: When a distro ceases to exist, a lot of people get left in the lurch.

God, how this line of thought just bugs the crap out of me.

BSA, Royal Enfield, Vincent Black Shadow, Matchless,Hercules,Mustang, Cyclone,Flying Merkel.
Just to name a few.
Because at 1 time. There were as many motorcycle makes and flavors and styles then there are now. There were as many makes and models back in the past as
there are Linux distro flavors now.

Yeah, but too many ,

It makes it sound like linux is being run from a central authority who decides which distro's get resources and which don't. Granted it was a comment, not by the author themself.

"Better tighten up that budget, can't have so many loose ends. It's not like just anyone can make a distro."
