traceroute is a program which allows you to pinpoint the exact location where there are bottlenecks on the internet or your network. For instance, if you are finding it difficult to access a website, you can use this tool to check the gateway where the error has occurred. Such as between your machine and your ISP , at the website server or an intermediate location. This article explains how to analyze the output of the traceroute tool with the help of an example.
