Like many of the commentors, I'm going to wait until I hear that the people who ported Witcher 2 won't be allowed within a mile of this.

If it will be similar to The Witcher 2's port, I hope nobody buys it. Would be nice if they made a proper linux version. However I do not know if I'll buy it, as I doubt my HD4000 will run it with 20 FPS and I have no money to get a better hardware. Anyway the release date is in 9 months, so it's still far away.

My guess is that CD Projeckt outsourced Witcher 2's development to Virtual Programming because a) there were reasons to not do a native port (too technically difficult and therefore expensive, Windows-only middleware, source code not available, whatever), and b) CD Project believed Virtual Programming's hype about their proprietary wrapper layer being more optimizable (with the implication that it would perform better) than Wine.

Point A should not apply to Witcher 3, and Point B has proven false.
