Good article and I agree.

I think it's just a bubble that they are creating using hype. Apple is very good at hype, and nothing else (except high prices for low quality). They hope to get people to invest in small, useless devices as much as possible before the bubble bursts and they go under.

There are many points made by others that are valid and prevent the PC from going away, for example: the gorilla arm, the fact that you can't do heavy duty number crunching, spreadsheets, word processing, or even simple typing anything of length and sense on a mobile device.

I also do not believe that PC can die, or that they can kill it. It will live on for centuries more. Perhaps it will become more oppressed to match the state of its user, but I think even this can be avoided.

Yes, I agree and do believe the PC will be around for quite some time to come. Sure hope so anyway, as I am not a fan of any of highly portable devices that I've tried so far.

I'm confused as to whether the PCs ARE GOING TO DIE people are talking about "PCs" or just about desktops.

And the only product that Apple is actually positioning as a PC replacement is the Mac. The iDevices are PC/Mac accessories.

I consider a PC a device with fully customizable hardware components, a display screen, a standard keyboard (also customizable), a mouse (or trackball or touchpad if can stand to use them), and maybe some speakers and a printer and/or scanner.
