LXer: The Creator of Linux Says Facebook, Twitter, And Instagram Are "a Disease"

"I absolutely detest modern media — Twitter, Facebook, Instagram," Torvalds told Linux Journall in a new interview. "It's a disease. It seems to encourage bad behavior." In particular, Torvalds said he takes issue with how social media is geared to generate as much engagement as possible.
Hating Microsoft is a disease, Hating Facebook isn't a disease-- Facebook is a disease.
Torvalds would make a very confusing doctor.
"Hating measles is a disease."
"What?"
"Smallpox is a disease."
"Okay, with you on that one."
"I don't want to be associated with the people for whom it's about exclusion and hatred."
Glad we have him to sort out which companies are okay to hate and which ones make you hateful if you don't like their abuse. But yeah, he's got the benefit of at least being right this time.
i blocked most all social media with my /etc/hosts file, all except twitter, and on twitter i have never posted a tweet, and i follow only two accounts, one is God and the other is versiontracker which just posts the latest software releases

Rep:
"Social media" is just helping advertisers tell people they're inadequate and offering false connections to those who crave them.
It used to be funny to see people use "social media" but, now, they've entrapped decent people into this.
Sorry, obviously, I wear a tinfoil hat and am a pathetic paranoic.
In truth, if it didn't grate on me so much and annoy me I'd be quite happy about things -- these people deserve what they get! Heck, I even sound like Mr Zuckerberg there...
