Here’s an idea crazy enough that it just might work: Pave the streets with solar-powered panels that have their own built-in heat and LED lights. That’s what Scott and Julie Brusaw hope to accomplish with their ongoing Solar Roadways project, which they just funded through a hugely popular crowdfunding campaign.

There is no green way to create a PV cell that returns more energy than it produces. Fricking glass is very energy intensive.

Currently only the heat from the sun returns a real return. Spain has some of the best examples so far. Followed maybe by some of the desert SW in USA.

PV technology has to either greatly reduce it's energy input or increase the output. It is simply a energy battery right now. It's only feature is China is dumping panels at low prices that make it seem to be green. You've just moved pollution.
