LXer: Swiftfox - the perverting of an open source browser

Published at LXer:

Swiftfox is a Firefox-based browser, but there is one big difference between it and Firefox -- you can't share Swiftfox with a friend or place it in a repository of a Linux distribution because the Swiftfox license prohibits repackaging and redistribution.

I think the issue is one of perception. Many people want to use FOSS as a matter of principle, not because they plan to modify, circulate, or redistribute the code. I was surprised to find that Swiftfox is released under a restricted license.

There is no legal issue with Swiftfox, but based on this new knowledge, I will not use nor recommend it.
