LXer: So, How Does It Feel To Have Been "Had"?

Published at LXer:

Ballmer publicly states that Linux infringes on MS Intellectual Property, Novell jingles a little silver bell to one side and says "Over here...This one is safe, here's your Linux", and the three of them make mega-bucks off of the labor of thousands of open source developers.

Aargh!! Why do I read these articles just before going to bed? I was spitting fire when I read Ballmer's statement at this time some nights ago. Now I want to throw things when I should be chilling!

It seems Microsop has got its foot in the Open Source door thanks to Novell Suse. I'm afraid they aren't going to stop till they've barged their way in and trashed the place. Anyone actually think they'll stop with Linux?

lol-the idea of microsoft/windows getting over the fact that better operating systems are free is slim. windows is in a run for its money with the freedom of free choices.

It's a testimony to how good Linux has become that M$ is clearly so worried.

actually, the funny thing is that the 'average person' doesn't have a clue what Microsoft is so angry about-they don't know about linux. I have seen commercials that compare hardware types (i.e. pc vs. mac) but never operating systems.

I think a lot of this has to do with virtualization. It wouldn't surprise me if MS uses the blue pill as an excuse to deny the running of windows on a linux server, or the company is in violation of their license.
