Years after it was first predicted, The SCO Group, a Unix and mobile software distributor better known for its Linux litigation, has filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.
The major problem is that companies can continue to function for years in Chapter 11. So while SCO is certainly down, they aren't out yet unless they can't convince a bankruptcy judge that they have a plan for successfully emerging from Chapter 11. And that decision can probably be delayed for quite some time.
