LXer: Open Source Abuse or Misunderstanding in China?

Just when I was beginning to feel upbeat about all the events and innovations going on in China this year, I see this thread from the CentOS List. The thread is not new, nor is the ‘offer’ being made in it. For all my years in China I do remember the days when distro’s were sold for 68 RMB and all our BLUG members celebrated the active distribution of Linux software for the low cost of 68 RMB ($8 USD). Back in the day downloading ISOs was near impossible, especially for most of the local software engineering students. to think about it ... i can get a book named "wasted city" written by a china modern writer for about 20 cents on the "side-walk" along the neigborhood avenues and a packet of cigarettes for less than 5 cents anywhere on the road ...
heck ... down here i can even get my very own mao on coffee cups , cigarettes lighters and wrist watches ... probably next time i will be seeing him everyday on my briefs too ... i mean ... just let go whatever you have and whatever it takes ... there are times to be dead serious and there are also times not to be so serious i think ... //hmm ... probably both at the same time ?? . |
