LXer: On keeping an open mind
Published at LXer:

"It has happened that at the very mention of ESR among some GNU supporters, they basically "cover their ears", refusing to hear anything about him or anything that he may have to say. Linking them with the World Domination 201 essay co-authored by ESR resulted in refusal to read it simply because it was written by ESR."

Great article. I really have no problem with ESR's position. I just think there should be a clear delineation between "free" and "non-free" distributions. For me, personally, only free (libre) will do, but I have no problem with people choosing to pay for a distro that circumvents that limitation. I am much more incensed at distributions which describe themselves as "free" but are primarily concerned with slipping in as many non-free elements as possible.
