LXer: My first Linux virus?

Published at LXer:

Wondering around my Linux filesystem I found a weird directory in /home… Ok, I thought, I didn’t create that. If it’s a virus, it’s the most stupid virus in existence, but, we never know. Anyway, The Oracle would know the answer… Searching for mrtstub, the first hit is directly from the enemy’s site. Not too far I found the origin: "mrtstub is part of the Malicious Software Removal Tool. It is responsible for copying mrt.exe to the correct location and launching it".

Not at all related to GNU/Linux but to ClippyOS.
Again a case of LX posting "news" below a certain "quality" threshold.

It's also a very very poor title for his blog post. Very misleading - it's not even a crap virus, it's from a security tool. Speaking of security tools , he loaded the ext3 tools, allowed them root access and then didn't unmount the directory.

I'm sure unSpawn would have something to say about this.......

Well he did mention that Windows existed on that machine. Looks like a "virus" to me--and one posing as an operating system at that.
