These things are just mop-up actions and periodic reminders of who is still in charge, for us, the little people.
They won, everyone else lost long ago when the focus was changed from ideologically meaningful
FREE software to the neutral and rather meaningless marketing term,
open source.
M$ would be quite happy to open source everything, just so long as they retained ultimate discretion over how you, the temporary tenant, may or may not use, adapt and share it.
The meaningful battles were all about software FREEDOM. Freedom of information, freedom of knowledge and use, and freedom to engage in ordinary and beneficial human activities such as caring and sharing - versus corporate greed and control.
Those meaningful ideals have been abandoned and neglected for so long that it is now unpopular to even mention them in open source company. Open source lives on the long dead carcass of FREE software.
The good fight was capitulated long ago by most who joined up with the open source cheering section crowd.
