LXer: Mageia 6.1 Linux distribution now available

One ... quality Linux distro that isn't super popular is Mageia. It is a fork of the once wildly popular Mandriva operating system. Today, Mageia 6.1 becomes available for download. It features LTS Linux kernel 4.14 and updated Nvidia drivers.

I agree that Mageia is a "quality Linux distro" that doesn't get the respect it deserves.

I have been using it off and on since v. 3 and am currently running it on my Zareason laptop with Fluxbox (though I also have E and KDE installed--Mageia defaults to KDE). It works nicely and is rock-solid stable.

A number of members of my LUG who are old Mandrake users (these are folks who've been using Linux for a long time) also use it, having moved to it organically from Mandrake through Mandriva.

The only grump I might have is that the repos could be a bit more extensive, but it is a nice piece of work and has done everything I have asked it to do.

Just a late night thought.
