“ORDERED that SCO's Renewed Motion for Judgment as a Matter of Law or, in the Alternative, for a New Trial is DENIED.” So ends the ruling of District Judge Ted Stewart. And so also, perhaps, ends the seemingly endless quest of SCO to tax or kill Linux.
Over? I don't want it to be over. I want IBM and Novell to roll out the REALLY big guns and atomize whatever is left of SCO. I'd like to see a counter suit so freaking big that the most jaded of trial lawyers is left slack-jawed in utter disbelief.
But SCO was a zombie, and undead corpse fueled by the unholy energy of M$.
True, which is all the more reason to bring out the big toys and apply a level of hurt unprecedented in human history. We do NOT want this thing coming back to life. Besides, if the obliteration of SCO is public enough and brutal enough, maybe it will give other MS "partners" pause when Sweaty Steve suggests going after Linux with IP.

It's true that a countersuit would be nice, but Novell is M$'s little puppy ever since that patent deal.
Yeah, they really knuckled under to MS on that one. Maybe if Novell gets their new owner, that new owner might view what little remains of SCO's rotting corpse as a potential financial bonanza. Then again, probably not.

using sources from Groklaw and Yahoo! Finance. Seems unlikely that SCO will be able to appeal since their attorneys told the Bankruptcy judge that the odds were 50/50 that they would prevail in this round. I bet the Bk judge isn't too happy right now.
