While I'm
not saying that swearing at people is the right way to address an issue;
I think there's at least a couple of points to also remember here;
1) Human beings are
not perfect, full stop - look at some parts of the world if you don't believe me. (even at some very recent world events)
2) If your talking about someone who's under a lot of pressure, it's only reasonable to assume they might get at least a little frustrated from time to time.
3) I can't speak for anyone else but, I'd much prefer people be direct with me - rather than pussy foot around the issue. Even here I try and be as direct as I can for at least a couple of reasons - first one: I want people to understand exactly what I'm on about, rather than sitting there trying to guess. second: People know where they stand without having to sit there and wonder - I'd rather know where I do in no uncertain terms.
4) It's because Linus is direct and has high standards that the Linux kernel is as good as it is. And it shows that Linus cares about what he does rather than just thinking about the money at the end of it - which is more than what I can say for a lot of others (not necessarily others here, mind you).
5) There words
not bullets.
6) Take a look in the mirror - have you ever sweared yourself? (at ANY point in your life)
Well, I think the answer to point 6 is more likely than not, YES! Therefore, it takes one to know one, hay? So who's calling the kettle black? I try not to. Am I perfect myself? A big fat NO!!
So does Linus's swearing make me have any less respect for him? NO! Not one bit.
Once again, at least he cares about what he does!
Oh, and also, welcome to the REAL world!
Would I like to meet him in person? YES!!! You bet your ***king a** I would!
PS:
Would you ban Linus, if he had an LQ account and posted swear words Jeremy?
