At the Brainshare Novell user conference in Salt Lake City last month the company flagged the summer launch of version 10 of its SuSE Linux Enterprise operating system for servers and desktops. The company is positioning its Linux offering as a less complex alternative to the Vista release of Windows.

This could have been a totally different article with a small change: "Is Windows Vista Ready?"

By the time Vista emerges (Jan 2007????), Suse will no doubt have xgl built in and will have far better visual effects than Vista. We already have security and a good filesystem and tabbed browsing. If we can just get software and hardware companies creating for Linux, Windows will be left far far behind.
