The Linux Boot Process

Hi All,

Some books/articles do mention that there is something called "linuxrc" that helps in booting initially.

Although the article referred to IBM site is very nice but does not mention about linuxrc.

Can some one explain the function/purpose of this file/utility in boot process? Also where it can be found (since I am unable to trace it on my system!)?

Thanks In Advance
