Noticed the driver is for ubuntu. Will it work on Mint? I think Mint is based on Ubuntu

LXer, I downloaded the driver from http://canon.codehost.com/?gclid=CK_...FeJcMgodJD4Alg and went through the steps for the PPA, but Mint couldnt open the downloaded file.
