LXer: How old were you when you first started using Linux?
Published at LXer:
Some folks grew up on Linux. But for most of us, we started using it later in life. Whether you switched from another operating system, or are one of the lucky few who knew no OS before it, all of us were beginners at some point. How old were you when you started using Linux? Do you remember that time clearly, or is it so far in the past that it[he]#039[/he]s but a faint memory? Regardless of the answer, let us know when it was, and maybe, a bit about what that experience has meant to you.
Distribution: Mainly Devuan, antiX, & Void, with Tiny Core, Fatdog, & BSD thrown in.

I was 28~29 when I started using it, but I'd only just got my first computer a few years earlier, using DOS, it was when I started using Win3 with a modem that I started to wish for something better, & in 1999, I became a Linux user full time, & have never regretted it.
Instead of giving away my age
Started using computers around 1980
Started using Linux on a server in 1999 (wasn't worried about upcoming y2k)
Switched home computer to Linux about a month ago
1998, which would have made me 35. First computer was 1993 - first introduction to Windows @ v3.1, which I immediately set out to replace with something, ANYTHING else. Ended up with OS2, until I found Linux.
Been using Linux nearly 20 years but recently moved to BSD - I personally like it much better.
