If your webcam doesn't work (it's not detected) with the new Google Plus Hangouts or with Google Talk Video, here's a possible way to get it working.

I have been playing around with the "hangout" function of G+ and it is pretty cool. I video chatted with my sister using Chrome on the Ubuntu 10.10 side of my dual boot laptop. What pleased me the most was that I was able to use my MiFi2200 3g connection.

There was some latancy but the connection was very usable. I will have to try to find out how fast this eats up my 5 gig data allotment. One disapointment was that I have so far been unable to get Opera to work with a "hangout". The camera is a Logitech and the video chat plug-in saw it fine.
