My point is you canít force people to contribute to projects they donít want to contribute to, so the idea of every distro being dropped to help support Ubuntu isnít going to happen. Thereís no boss here who can control the whole FOSS development resource like a big company. You just need to put this idea out of your mind. Accept it canít happen. There is however more to discuss than just ďcan we coerce people to work together?Ē. The following is just my opinion and Iím certainly open minded enough to change if people bring forward new points, so lets investigate some of the gripes people have with fragmentation.

There is no such thing as fragmentation in Linux ... except for the filesystem. Anyone who uses the term for anything else doesn't know what they are talking about.

For sure a boss to control FLOSS would doom it.
