LXer: Canonical, Microsoft, and Apple Want OS Convergence Who Will Get There First?

Published at LXer:

The idea of OS convergence is starting to take a hold in the world and major companies like Microsoft, Apple, and Canonical are working hard to achieve it. There seems to be a race going on and all the players want to reach the finish as soon as possible.

What Satanic ritual are they up to now ? Do they have enough goat leggings to go around ? Are goat leggings fire-proof ?

These are all good questions when considering this topic. As for me, I'll burn in hell before I use Satan OS, in fact that's probably exactly the time when I will use it ... in hell.

The companies want convergence so they can converge on users--that is, rope users into using their product on everything. It's not a technical advance--it's a marketing strategy.

I haven't heard any users, Linux or otherwise, who care about it.

Afterthought:

Apple fanbois have already converged. That should be warning enough.

To me the article doesn't even make sense. I don't think the author knows what they are talking about.
