LXer: Artificial Intelligence, The Search For The Perfect Slave

Published at LXer:

Artificial Intelligence, IA, is a fantastic scientific and engineering project whose main purpose is to create a perfect slave. It may sound creepy or disrespecful, but the dream is to make a device clever enough so that one can acquire it, get it out of the box, swiftly ensemble it and ask it “get me a good cup of coffee”, just as the best human assistant, recently hired, would do. Of course, the test would be that one can enjoy a delicious coffee within a reasonable time.

Since you can't define intelligence, the only way to build artificial intelligence is by accident.
If it's even possible.
You can build a mechanisme to fetch you cups of coffee. The test for intelligence would be if the machine "likes" coffee.

Very true. It also seems odd to mention that artificial intelligence is needed to get you a god cup of coffee because the "intelligence" part of that has been solved by Google, Apple and Amazon with their various "assistants" the hard part is getting something that can go and fetch the coffee for you...
