Since the news broke yesterday that we are an extremist publication according to the NSA, we at Linux Journal have thought a lot about what that might mean to our readers.

If visiting a Linux forum or the Tor site makes me one then yes. However, may I suggest searching for the extremists on the side of the name callers.

well of course, anything that goes against the commercial interests that are the powers behind the powers would be labeled 'extremist', propaganda, divide and conquor you know.

Well, yes, in the US the corporations get to buy the law.
They also conveniently forget they were the biggest funders of terorism on the planet including providing many of the weapons still used against the western invasion forces today.

Where the US government decided that with no law broken it would hand one company's information to another. Then, of course, we have the judge taking a backhander from Microsoft to cause problems to a company's operations, by allowing them control over the core business, in view of some largely insubstantiated claims.
I put the US a little below China in the corruption stakes with the UK's "package for offended rich people" being a contender also.

At least in China they deal with corruption swiftly and decisively ... they have mobile execution vans. This is probably because the corruption level is extremely high.

I really don't know how to reply to that. I hope your realise that the Chinese Government is neither democratically elected nor in any way open or honest in its policies or how much it steals from the people?

I'm not sure they need them. They already snatch people on very little evidence and torture them to death.

I think what people mostly notice is perceived corruption. You cannot know or directly measure corruption, although I have noticed that corruption makes people very poor. That being said, yeah I guess the US would be less corrupt ATM.

I just wanted to mention the execution vans, that's all. How they really use them considering that the corrupt are also usually powerful ... I was being sarcastic/sardonic in my comment. If they brought the vans here to the US, I'd be out of here right after it was being first discussed.

The US prefers just to fly people to torture camps in places it can easily deny. The US government pay for torture of largely innocent (by US "justice system") people all the time. The UK government arrnage for people to bleed to daeath from self-inflicted blunt-knife wounds and "accidentally zipping into a bag".
