It is true that HP doesn't claim support for Linux. Although support isn't given, HP cooperates with the Linux community and do have Linux printer drivers for download on their support site. By comparison Canon has no cooperative relationship with the Linux developer community. SuSE 10.0 didn't support my new HP PSC 1410 but that was because it shipped with an older version of driver software. I will admit it took a while for me to discover this but the version downloaded from HP's site worked fine. The last Canon printer I had required me to purchase a drive for about $40 from a 3rd party to get the printer supported.

HP ships a great deal of it's servers with Redhat and Suse.

But only servers at the moment...
