"Years of Abusive E-mails?" Really? It created headlines every time Linus used a swear word or called someones code "idiotic" or "retarded", and there haven't really been that many such episodes.

Pushing for this particular CoC to be implemented is a power move from those wanting to impose certain political ideas on the project, and who need it as a tool for expelling those objecting and holding different opinions. And which political ideas are we talking about, exactly? Well, the CoC was written by the same person who authored the Post-Meritocracy Manifesto. Read it and weep.

Those kinds of ideas, and the people espousing them, are dangerous to the point of being literally lethal, as they openly advocate for non-compentent people to be put into prominent positions based on some perceived oppression that they (or their ancestors!) may have experienced, due to them belonging to a group of some kind.

Personally, I'd like the software in my phone, GPS, microwave, ABS brakes, pacemaker etc. to be made by the most competent person around. But again, that's just me.
