This article isn't arguing against the use of Adblocking extensions, like AdBlock Plus. Rather, it's an argument in favor of using said extensions more prudently (i.e. using whitelists for sites you support etc...).
Got plenty of RAM here, and heck if it gets rid of abusive ads, I'll pay for another 8 GB if I have to and another and another until the abuse stops. Simple as that. Also I use Adblock Edge, because Adblock Plus has cohorted with the enemy.
Also, any problems it may cause can be fixed, same goes for NoScript.
