Same here.

I recently had friends over my house and was showing them my Linux desktop. One of them already has Ubuntu (and so do I, but obviously a newer version), but the other still has Vista. However, I sent both of them an email when they left (and a text telling them to check their email) regarding Ubuntu's recent branding and user interface overhaul that spanned several releases and is still going. I currently am already upgrading to Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha 1 (had to reinstall 10.10 as I had some problems with the daily build Live CD that got fixed by Alpha 1) and want to see if Network Manager works better than it did.

Sorry, it took this long to reply. Before today, the last time I logged into my account was on Dec 5. I locked myself out of my account.

When I joined LQ in 2006, I've used the same email and password for four years. On Dec 5. I decided to change my password.

Long story short, I forgot the password. And clicking the forgotten password link wouldn't work because the email I registered with is no longer available.

After I sent an email to LQ on Saturday and describing my situation, LQ sent me an email this morning to reset my password with my new email address that I provided.

Anyway, back to your post.

When using Alphas, things can break at anytime. At least you can report bugs to them while testing alpha stages to help fix the problems.

- Cheers

Anyway, I am really liking the Compiz-based Unity interface, as it looks and feels more like Ubuntu itself with the Ambiance and Radiance GTK themes (but so far when I switch to Radiance only the icons change color -- oh well) and feel that Linux in general (no matter what desktop environment you have) is by far the most secure, easiest to use (at least with Ubuntu), most customizable, freest OS you can find. Even Mac OS X pales by comparison (and also is out there just to make Steve Jobs a billionaire -- oh well).

I could give you hundreds of reasons really - been with MS tech support for some time now. Sometime I feel like yelling at the callers 'Are you so dumb that you cannot see that we are stealing your money *legally*. I have not dealt with macs but then I am sure that the day I will see them I hate them.

Honestly there aren't 20 reasons (they stretched them) ... but there are a few very good ones.

I only needed two reasons for using Linux:
1: It's more interesting.
2: It's free.
