Yast2 and Secondary reading zone records

I'm a newbie using Suse 10.2.

I'm hosting some web sites and I have a friend serving as my secondary DNS. He is running a specialize system which uses standard DNS and Bind. Doens't seem anything out of the ordinary.

Since I converted over to Linux he now tells me that he can no longer pick up my zone records (do zone transfers).

Now I have another friend mine who is also running Linux, don't know what destro, he can do zone transfers against my box.

A consultant who has helped me with setting up my Linux configured my DNS server for me, is NOT using the Yast tools, he is doing this via the termial, he is a Red Hat person.

Now I'm told that because the DNS server wasn't configured with Yast the server isn't working properly and that's why my secondary can't do zone transfers.

I would like to know if this could be true.

Any further information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Just a thought...
Some GUI tools keep private copies of config files (Centos 4.5 does this, and it drove me nuts).

1. You do some config file edits in the shell. All goes well.
2. You start up the gui config tool.
3. Your setups get overwritten.
4. Arrrgh!

I don't know if YaST's tools do the same thing or not, but it is worth looking into.
