I just installed SuSE 10.1 and can't seem to get YAST to do much.
I'd like Thunderbird; so when I open YAST and click on eiher
Online Update or Add on Product I see status as starting
module, but the module never opens. I also open a terminal
and check for processes, but i only see the Bash shell running.
Will I need to re-install?
No, do not reinstall. Just install Suse 10.2. It is much better than 10.1!
10.2 still has some yast-related issues though - including the one where yast hangs on "building database of drivers" after the cups 1.2.7-3.2 update... and you end up having to delete ppd_db.ycp
I suppose that it is getting better all the time though...
I hated to do this but the installer of 9.3, 10.0, and 10.1
gave me issues before I could use this machine again. I had no
PC usage 4 days because of a dual-boot problem I had with Winblows.
I no longer dual-boot with it - on a copletely different PC now.
I may try 10.2 in the future; the server is extremely busy
now. The 102 Live CD link was unavailable this morning.
