Yast modules not working in SUSE 9.1

Hey guys. I have found a few posts that seem to mention the problem I'm having but nothing that offers a definite solution. (it is possible, of course, that I haven't searched well enough).

In any case, the problem is, I REALLY need to download some new components of SUSE and my DVD reader is broken so I need to change my installation source. The only problem is, when I go into Yast to do this, the window I need appears for just a moment and then vanishes. Curious about this, I went into the Text mode of Yast and same thing... when I selected "change installation source", it crashed and I had to close the terminal.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Other yast functions work fine. The only problems are under the "software" option when yast first starts.

Thanks!

Perhaps you could monitor the /var/log/YaST/y2log while retrying it.

My system has similar symptoms. After reinstalling SuSE Pro 9.1 and downloading updates from the SuSE server, I am unable to boot any YaST modules from the YaST GUI. In some modules the module window will briefly appear and then vanish. Others, nothing happens. In text mode ( run /sbin/yast as su) I get an error message that "_Zn6VendorsC1ERKSs" is an identified symbol. That file links symbolically to a library file (liby2pm.so.2) apparently needed by YaST. I spoke to technical support at Novell and I was told that 9.1 (in fact, all versions less than 10.0)is no longer supported. Also, that downloading updates from the SuSE YOU site will download file versions that are not appropriate to 9.1. That is probably my problem. I was told to search LinuxQuestions.Org for links to downloads for now officially unsupported versions of SuSE Linux. I found your question looking for such downloads. Does anyone know anything about such sites?
