XVID, VCD, SVCD and so on. How to??

Hello
I have Suse 9.3 installed, and noticed that maybe the problem persist on 10.0.
How can I play XVID, VCD, SVCD and some other video formats on Suse?

First install packman and gwdg repositories in YAST > change installation souce, then
in YAST install programs : install xvid, divx, w32,

for DVD , first remove xine and kaffeine which were installed by SUSE. Then download (google)- xine-ui, Kaffeine and libdvdcss.

Or go to : http://www.susewiki.org/index.php?ti...stall-apt4suse and install apt4suse following the instructions there. It is recommended that your system is "clean" - without any non SUSE packages.

It might help.

Hi flebber,

remove all apt packages you have in YAST and reinstall following the instructions in http://www.susewiki.org/index.php?t...nstall-apt4suse.

The Jem Report is easier to follow and doesn't require apt. It will show you how, USING YAST, to install all the codecs and players you need to play DVDs, VCDs, mp3s, divx, xvid...etc. I highly recommend it, more than going for a seperate installer which is highly unnecessary. Keep it easy.

I went through this Jem report and here:

"Click the Add button, then click on HTTP in the popup menu. Add the following Internet address to the Server Name field and then click on OK:

packman.rsync.zmi.at/suse/10.0"
Changing 10.0 to 9.3 (the URL is there, I checked it), but then it goes wrong:

"Unable to create installation source from URL 'http://packman.rsync.zmi.at/suse/9.3/'.
Details:
ERROR(InstSrc:E_no_instsrc_on_media)"
And then it asks if I want to try again.
The above message may not be exactly that way because I translated it from my language, so you guys could understand it.
I quite didn't understand it, I'll try googling, but I'd really appreciate any help with that :D

I did exactly and more, but it sucks me like hell. I play MP3 in linux, but for DVD/VCD, PowerDVD of Windows is the best choice. :p
