xinetd


hi, i have hotwayd setup using xinetd to retrieve my hotmail e-mails but for some reason i have to start xinetd each time i boot.

How can i get xinetd to start automatically at boot?

rc-update add xinetd boot
i think that should work

SuSE, right? (Your profile says Mandrake)

Open Yast -> System -> Runlevel Editor -> Expert mode

find xinetd in the list and tick the 'B' (boot).

Thanks thats sorted it. Oops i didn't realise i still had mandrake as my distro. Only just installed suse and so far i'm liking it more than mandrake.

Yast is brilliant!

YaST-> Network Services-> Network Services (inetd)

It says inetd, but it does start xinetd. It has a nice pretty enable/disable set of radio buttons. It can also handle much of the configuration from there too, though you do still need to monkey around with individual services config files.
