I've been running with Xgl/Compiz for awhile now and been very happy with it. Recently however, I did a smart update/upgrade and now I'm having problems with it. Any suggestions for troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
Code:
linux:/home/user1 # rpm -qa | grep -i xgl
xgl-hardware-list-060526-9.3
xgl-cvs_060729-23.5
Code:
linux:/home/user1 # rpm -qa | grep -i libsvg
libsvg-cairo-0.1.6-16
libsvg-0.1.4-14
Code:
linux:/home/user1 # rpm -qa | grep -i compiz
compiz-quinncvs_060920-4.4
I'm using the proprietary nVidia driver from NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8774-pkg1.run , and I've tried reinstalling it (just in case).
Under Control Center > Desktop Effects it shows 3D Acceleration and Desktop Effects as "Enabled", however, no Xgl effects are working. Also, gnome-window-decorator isn't showing up, although it's clearly running:
Code:
linux:/home/user1 # ps -A | grep gnome-window
5883 ? 00:00:00 gnome-window-de
Killing this task and launching another gnome-window-decorator does not allow it to show up. I can launch metacity at the prompt and get it to show up, but I think the problem is more Xgl related.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.
