Writing to USB Storage is SLOOWWW

Writing data to USB Flash Drives and iPods is slow as hell. It also takes forever to disconnect iPods from Amarok.

Any idea what would cause this slow speed? I think it may just have to do with my old butt motherbored and it's outdated USB.

Any chance it could be SUSE 10? Or is it hardware?

i dont think iPods will even work with usb 1. they wont for me anyway.

it could just be that you are copying a lot of data. if it's say 10 gig, then that's still going to take a long time, even on usb 2.

and when you disconnect the ipod it writes the songs to it that you have selected......

SUSE 10 has a problem with USB1 devices on USB2 ports. I don't know if this problem persists the other way round. The way to solve this, is to mount manually or tell hotplug (hal) to mount without the sync option. See the release notes of SUSE 10 in /usr/share/doc/.
