WPA Supplicant Question
 

Hi...I was told to get the wpa supplicant ..fine I got it, but how do I install it...Thanks

We are gong to need a bit more info to tell you how to install it. A suplicant... did you get a package? or a binary? Or is it a plug-in for a package?

Hello again...Well, it started as a .tar.gz file and I'm pretty sure I have it unzipped...and now it sits in /home/myfiles/wpa_supplicant-0.3.9

I recently had SuSE 9.3 and it came standard with wpa_supplicant. All I did was set up my network device with Yast. There is a drop down box that let's you select Open, Shared or WPA. For some reason the WPA option would not show up at first. I would have to attempt to connect to the network first through KInternet, then go back to Yast and then I would have the WPA option. After that I was able to connect all the time.

Well I've used WPA supplicant for a while and probably can help you get you started.

What version of Suse are you using? 9.3 or 10.0?

If you've got 10.0 WPA supplicant should be installed by default. If not, browse to your Software Manager and find it and install it. That should be the easy part. That way you dont have to mess with download, unzip, compile, blah blah blah.

Please let me know which version you have. If you've got 10.0, I can walk you through the GUI with it since it's built into the GUI now.
