WL-100g and Suse 9.3
 

I am trying to install an AsusTek WL-100g pcmcia adaptor under Suse Linux 9.3 but with no luck. can anyone point me to the right direction, or has anyone experience with this kind of card? Thank you very much!

Not tested yet, but I found here a very good solution that might help, even though it's for 9.2. It seems a very good, newbie oriented description, so I'll give it a try and let you know what the outcome is. For Suse 9.2, see this page
The solution is valid for a wide range of wireless network adapters, so I think it's of a wider area of interest.

The ndis wrapper solution is not the right answer. I have yet to find a ndiswrapper that actually works.

There has to be a better help site for this perennial problem of wireless chipsets that haven't been installed in SuSE.

SuSE doesn't help either in it's 9.1 help it refers to Garmisch sites that are out of date. SuSE should really be addressing this wireless chipset problem and have a help site for this issue alone.

I'm fed up having to test every lowcost USB wireless device to find SuSE wireless chipset that works.

I hope this has been seriously addressed in 10.

well, it kinda worked partially, which means that now the card is seen and configured, I can see the available wireless network, but either I forgott my wireless settings, either it won't connect to the network... but I have to say that at least what's in that tutorial worked for me. I will dedicate tonight some time to the settings and I will let you know my experience.

Well, after finding the time and patience to sit in front of the computer (even though it only took max. 5 minutes to finish the job), I have managed to complete the set up of my home network, and my intuition functioned correctly, in the way that I had to introduce the right network parameters. After this small adjustment everything was OK with only one ammendment. I have to put the PCMCIA wireless netowrk card in the computer after it starts, not before. If it's in the laptop at the time of the boot, it hangs on somwhere before starting KDE.
So, as a conclusion, both NDIS wrapper and the tutorial mentioned previously were extremely usefull, at least for my configuration (Amilo L, Asus PCMCIA wireless adaptor, cheap router with DHCP for the internal network). I have used the Win 98 drivers for NDIS wrapper.

i have te same problem, ndiswrapper works fine, but how dit you set the right parameters . cannot ping my router!
