Wireless DWL-G650 configuration problem on SuSE 10.0

I have installed SuSE 10.0 on laptop Presario 2100, everything seems to be working ok except the wireless DWL-G650.

I used the ethernet card to update the SuSE and installed the Yast package with the Madwifi drivers.

The wireless card is recognized in Yast but detected as an Ethernet card instead of wireless, I changed it to wireless and enabled DHCP (after deactivating the build in ethernet)
But it still doesn't work, the wifi manager also can't find the card.

Apparently, from what I read, this card is supposed to work with SuSE without having to use Ndiswrapper.

It's also not an Hardware issue since the card works properly with ubuntu.

When I Edit the card settings I get a message in the line of: driver module not present may be integrated in kernel (sorry didn't note the exact message)

Do I need to do something to have the card use the Madwifi drivers?

Wireless Suse10

Hi,
I had similar problems, there are 2 possible solutions (as far as i figured out)
1) ndiswrapper.
Uses your Windows driver, but does not support monitoring mode !
Good explanation here:
More info here: ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation

2) Madwifi
Should support monitor mode as well (worked not in my environment)
Howto:
More info here: madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/FirstTimeHowTo

Basically i was rather disappointed about WiFi-Support in Suse 10.
There is a lot room for improvement !

Hope this is helpful !
