wireless card not working

I have Suse 10 and I cant get my wireless to work. Suse detected my wireless card and I put in my ESSID and the encryption key. It seemed that it works but when I open firefox and try to connect to a site it doesn't work. Any help?

Are you connected to a wireless router or another computer with a wireless card sharing internet connection? Have you checked you have network connectivity? From the console, type

ifconfig

whilst logged in as root and look for your wlan0 entry - does it have an IP address assigned? If so, can you ping the other device you're trying to connect to the Internet through? Also, does

iwconfig

return the correct essid, access point, and wep key?
