My machine is able to access network on wire but it is not available on wireless. Seems like my network card for wireless cannot be detected. where can i go to set up my wireless on suse?

Do you know what model your wireless card is? Using the command 'lspci -v' should tell you a load of information about your hardware, including your wireless card. Get the chipset number from this output and try searching for that. If it's possible to get it working someone will have posted some instructions on the net somewhere!

I hope someone else finds this thread, because I've never owned a computer with a wireless card, so I won't be able to help you a great deal. The chipset in your wireless card is by Broadcom, which is a bad thing. Broadcom are notorious for not releasing any Linux drivers or hardware specs to allow other people to write Linux drivers. There is a reverse engineered Linux driver called bcm43xx, but I don't think it supports all Broadcom chipsets. The problem may also be compounded by the fact that your computer is a Dell, because they often use undocumented variants of standard chipsets, so even if the driver would work for the basic version of the chipset, it might not work for the Dell variant.

You could try manually loading the reverse-engineered driver using 'sudo modprobe bcm43xx', but I'm guessing that's not going to work since the card wasn't autodetected. You could also try looking into ndiswrapper and using that with the windows version of the driver for the card. Probably the best place to start is just to search the web for your exact computer model number and linux (and possibly "wireless" and the name/release version of your distro) to see what advice anyone else has. Since it's a Dell it's pretty certain that someone else will have tried to get this working, so it should be easy to see whether it's currently possible and hopefully find a howto guide.

Sorry this isn't such great news, but it is Broadcom's fault. You could try writing to them and asking that they release Linux drivers or specs for their chipsets. So far this hasn't worked, but unless there' pressure on them it's hard to believe they'll ever do anything about it.
