Windows share - timeout on server (opensuse 10.3)

From konqueror, I

Go->Network folders->Smb Shares->Mshome->Winders -- My Documents

and will get a listing, and can even look at a file if i am very fast.
But after a few seconds, all I get is:

An error occurred while loading smb://winders/My Documents/Projects:
Timeout on server
winders
The firewall is set (via yast->Security and users->Firewall, allowed services - advanced) to allow ports:
135 139 445 (TCP)
137 138 (UDP)

The winders box is xp home

I had no problems with opensuse 10.1 on the same box (one box is xp only, the other opensuse 10.3 only).

Strangely, if I disable the firewall, the timeout problem disappears. I would rather have the firewall on than off. What obvious thing am I missing?
