This, right near the start, is an indication of what's going wrong. You need to install the X development packages.

Also, you'll almost certainly need to be root to run "make install" when you've compiled successfully.

Is the problem that you can't find the right package to install? It should be called either x-window-system-dev, or xorg-dev (depending on which version of Debian BOss is based on).

Alternatively, have you installed the package and are still getting errors? In which case, you'll need to post them here.

If you've installed the package and you're still getting the same errors, then I've got something wrong somewhere. No doubt in this case someone else will help out.
