White screen after xorg update

I updated xorg last night from the openSUSE repos and everything seemed fine. I had to reinstall the nvidia module to get X to work again but no other problems came up. This morning I turned the computer on and it booted normally, but when I got to the desktop, I saw it for about half a second and then the screen turned white. All I had was a white screen and the mouse courser.

I rebooted several times with the same result. I tried starting X as root and was able to see the desktop that way.

Anyone have any idea why I'm having this problem as normal user?

It turns out it does the same thing as root. I guess I just got lucky once.

Anyway, I turned off xgl and now it's working.

I'd be interested to know if anyone else has any problems after updating xorg. Some pkg's came from the XGL repo:

The rest came from xorg:

The white screen problem could be attributed to a problem with your card's implementation of GLX_texture_from_pixmap. Try using beryl --use-copy. Its slower but it fixes the white screen problem. Or you could try using AIGLX .
