When installing new stuff in suse 9.1, do you uninstall old stuff first?

Hey all, aside from my other DVD related thread here, I want to install the newest version of firefox 1.0 so do I uninstall the old one first, 0.8, the one that came with the distro?
And does this apply for ALL programs in suse 9.1?

Also.......if anyone can help me with this, I installed the fluxbox rpm but when I go to change window managers after logging out, I don't see it available for use. I just see blackbox (among others) but not flux! Something I'm doing wrong?
One more thing, (sorry) once I installed suse 9.1 my clock and XP clock are all out of whack. In the BIOS the clock is correct but no matter what I do, it seems when I turn the PC off the OS's clocks stop also but the BIOS clock is fine, which is why I ruled out it being the MOBO battery.

Thanks!

In the case if firefox, I would uninstall the old version before installing 1.0. The 1.0 version has a way to update from mozilla.org so you won't have to do anything other than run the update in the future.

As for other programs in SUSE, you can leave the old version there if you want. If you use the -F option when installing rpms it will update the old version.

With regards to your clock, have you set it with YaST? Also, linux likes for the BIOS clock to be set to UTC time instead of local.
