the install program/wizard I find in my openSuSE 10.2 start menu...at...
System | Configuration | Install Software...?

it is quite confusing

yast is the original software installation system

the install wizard you see is the more modern system (more like the apt way of doing things)

both use the same rpm database - so is just what case of using the system that you prefer
