Question What is this /data1 partition after installing SuSe 9.1?

I'm a long time Mandrake User but I've been unhappy with thier last several releases and thought I'd try SuSe. I've installed 9.1 and I'm very happy with the distribution so far. But I'm puzzled as to why it created two root partitions and mounts the second as data1. What is this and why?

don't know why it created 2 root partitions, but it's mounting the second one as /data1 because it's listed in your /etc/fstab as /data1. i found suse will create mounts for any linux partition it finds which isn't listed specifically in your fstab, as /data1, /data2, etc...more than likely, the partition probably isn't formatted, so right now it's just wasted space on your hd...i don't know how to recover it to use with your system, but i'm sure someone here does

No, /data1 is formated and has a complete copy of root { /bin, /usr, /etc, everything }. In addition it's exactly the same same as my Windows XP partition (I dual boot).
