I guess you mean openSuSE and Suse Enterprise? Well, they are more or less what Fedora is to Redhat (although Novell did not want it be compared that way). OpenSUSE is a community-based distribution sponsored by Novell. They release a new version every 6 months and Novell uses it as a test platform. But that does not necessarily means that it is unstable. At all.

The target here is really the home-user. You find boxed versions to buy just like SuSE Home/Professional a few years ago. You get support for that for around 1 year.

Now, the feedback Novell gets from OpenSuSE.org community is used to create the Enterprise Edition. Here stability is their highest priority. Also here,we are talking about big amounts of money for the support Novell offers. The time span for their Enterprise version is about 7 years. Needless to say, the target here is big companies/huge servers.

I picked up Suse Linux Enterprise Server

I picked up Suse Enterprise Server at the LinuxWorld conference a couple weeks ago. I liked it and have been using it. I registered with Novell as an evaluation. And, I have been getting updates.

Now, I find that the latest Apache is 2.2.6 and Suse Enterprise Server is using Apache 2.2.3. Are there any plans to keep Apache current?

Thanks.
