Question web server helpp

I have an web server running apache and tomcat, I have my company e-mail app on the server, this was made by the company. When I put the e-mail app.. on a windows computer and run it, it works ok but when I put it on the linux box I get an error that the smtp port is block, I have no firewall on the box. Can anyone help me out?????

sounds like your running an smtp server and trying to use port 25 for your email app as well. you might try stopping the smtp server and running your app. your probably running sendmail or postfix so try one of these.

/etc/rc.d/sendmail stop
/etc/rc.d/postfix stop

then try running your email app. this isnt to smart though, there are local system messages that are going to try to use the local smtp server. if your email app can handle them its no big deal though ... as long as it does the work instead of sendmail or postfix. you could then just use sendmail to deliver the local messages to your email app.
