I was a long term SuSe user, (about 6 years) but I noticed it getting all the more
complicated bloated and slow. It seemed to lose track for me.

If you just want an easy life I think ubuntu is hard to beat for a nice clean distribution that just works. (I even got my old folks using it)

Maybe it's not for power users - but I use my Solaris for that.

I have the same feeling while using redhat. When I tried RHEL-AS5-B1,I cannot bear any more

Solaris is great, with ZFS and SMF but it's maybe not as friendly
as an average linux but you can feel the quality and robustness.

nowadays there are so many great choices. I use Ubu on my laptop cos
it's easy enough for the wife to use and still good enough for me.
I love the package management, easier than windows.

I have Solaris 10 on my desktop with a Suse disk which I haven't booted for over a year. (I don't get too much use of my desktop as the wife moans). When I want a quick easy linux boot up I just throw a
puppy Live CD in.
